Product Details

RS PRO Non-Contact Voltage Tester 90V - 1000V AC, CAT II Insulation

Introducing the RS PRO non-contact volt tester, a highly reliable non-contact voltage detector perfect for testing live wires and conductors without coming into contact with them, preventing the risk of electric shock or injury.

This durable non-contact detector features an audible and visual notification, allowing the user to quickly and effectively identify the presence of live voltage. The RS PRO non-contact voltage detector is operated by two AAA 1.5 V batteries with up to 6 hours battery time, allowing the volt stick to be used on the job in a range of environments. With CAT II insulation included, the RS PRO non-contact voltage tester offers a safe and reliable tool that can be used with confidence. The lightweight and compact design also ensures that the tester can be easily stored or carried in a pocket via the pocket clip featured at the end.

Features and Benefits:

• Ideal for 90 V - 1000 V AC
• Thin probe tip ideal for working with wall outlets and tight spaces
• Visual indication via illumination of the tip
• Audible indicator for enhanced notification
• Pocket clip for easy storage
• Lightweight yet durable design
• CAT II insulation

Applications:

Non-contact voltage testers are an essential device used to detect a live voltage in wires and conductors safely without coming into contact with them. Volt sticks can be used in almost any environment by anyone, either at home for renovations or by an electrical engineer on a worksite. Non-contact volt testers can be used on a variety of applications including:

• Power outelts
• Circuit breakers

What is a non-contact voltage tester used for?

Voltage testers or detectors are used to check the flow of current through a circuit. They can be used to check safety, or to ensure equipment is functioning correctly. They can also test for the current strength, whether the circuit is grounded correctly or to ensure no current is flowing at all so that work can be begin on the circuit.

How do non-contact voltage testers work?

Also known as a voltage detector, volt stick, voltage tester pens, sensors or test pens. They allow the user to test electrical conductors without touching them. Non-contact testers are the safest and easiest way to detect electric fields or voltage. Voltage testers utilise what is called capacitive coupling, the user holding the instrument provides a ground reference. The tester then detects changing electric field around the object or objects conducting an AC current. (Alternating current) Simply put, the user and the tester pen when near the electrical conductor will cause a small current to flow through the tester from the source, this is how it detects AC voltage.
